Sistina
Sistina has been an Upper East Side fine dining destination for more than 30 years, offering an unforgettable Italian food-and-wine experience with old-school New York flair. Now located in a historic Fifth Avenue townhouse, the restaurant has earned a Grand Award since 2018 for its impressive wine cellar, which boasts an inventory of more than 125,000 bottles.
What’s on the Menu
Chef and owner Giuseppe Bruno calls on both his upbringing in Southern Italy and the greenmarkets of New York to inspire his seasonal à la carte menus, which have featured dishes such as pappardelle in a veal Bolognese, roasted suckling pig with Brussels sprouts, squid ink linguini topped with seafood (calamari, clams and mussels) and roasted peppers, and four renditions of risotto. A recent standout entrée is the Colorado rack of lamb for two, with homemade yogurt, eggplant purée and a black truffle sauce.
Wine List Highlights
Bruno also oversees Sistina’s wine program, with Nestor Torres and Tetiana Kanelska leading the sommelier team. The wine list comprises 5,000 labels (representing a 125,000-bottle cellar), and while the focus is predominantly on Italian wines, many options from France and the U.S. West Coast are also available. To support Bruno’s Italian cuisine menu, Piedmont and Tuscany’s popular appellations and varieties shine brightest on the list, with a wide range of mature vintages and deep verticals from leading wineries, including Barolo from Bartolo Mascarello and Giacomo Conterno, Barbaresco from Bruno Giacosa and Gaja and Chianti Classico from Antinori.
